Building up my network and intensifying my cooperation with my colleagues in Sales is very important to me.

Joelle Marie Monzel

Product supporter | Department: Filling Technology Product Support | Bad Kreuznach, Germany

What did you train as and why?

While I was still at school, I had no specific idea of what I wanted to do after leaving and was open to a number of options. Looking back, my dual work-study industrial engineering program and job at KHS proved to be exactly the right choice for me. This degree course seemed especially appealing to me as it combined technology and business and I find both subjects interesting. At KHS I had the chance to work my way around several different departments, such as Assembly, Development, Design Engineering and Purchasing. After finishing my degree and being hired in Product Support, I discovered my passion for the job of product supporter. I then completed an MA in engineering parallel to my job. I see my master’s as a door-opener to further potential steps in my career as I’ve now gained lots of theoretical knowledge and am still collecting plenty of practical experience.

What are your tasks and responsibilities in Product Support?

As a product supporter, I act as an interface between Technology and Sales. During the offer phase I’m responsible for clarification of the machine configuration, preparing the offers and explaining the technical details of my product area in customer presentations. Sales includes me in the offer process or also in consultancy talks with customers to this end. In house I provide KHS employees with information on aseptics during sales product training courses and am a contact representative at exhibition events.

“As part of my job I quite often travel abroad, where I can learn a lot about other cultures and improve my English – which I think is fantastic!”

What do you find special about your job?

KHS has great future potential as we’re one of the leading manufacturers in the industry and develop both innovative and sustainable technologies. As part of my job, I quite often travel abroad, where I can learn a lot about other cultures and improve my English – which I think is fantastic! Building up my network and intensifying my cooperation with my colleagues in Sales is very important to me. I’m also in constant contact with Filling Machine Development and Design Engineering and like expanding my knowledge and learning new things every day. Working as a woman in this sector can be quite challenging; swapping notes with other female colleagues and especially female engineers is thus all the more important – and very special!

Why should young people aim for a career or apprenticeship in your field of work and what qualities do you need here?

In my field of work, you can take on lots of responsibility and have the chance to constantly develop further. You need to keep up with the subject matter, though – my enthusiasm for our products helps here. My many different contacts and customers mean that my days are extremely varied and it’s never boring. It’s of an advantage if you’re very assertive, can interact well with others and like working and can work well in a team.

How do you like to spend your free time when you’re not at work?

I love trying out new things and enjoy more or less anything. I thus have lots of very different hobbies. For instance, I play the piano, paint and watch lots of TV series and films in my spare time. I also like going to all kinds of events, as I find all the many different things people can do totally fascinating. I like hiking to counterbalance my work at the office. I love a good challenge and the feeling of coming home after a good hike exhausted but happy.
