Certificate for the KHS Innofill Can DVD product series: TÜV SÜD has now awarded the coveted energy and media efficiency (EME) quality mark to the can filler.
Dortmund, November 10, 2015 – Certificate for the KHS Innofill Can DVD product series: TÜV SÜD has now awarded the coveted energy and media efficiency (EME) quality mark to the can filler. To this end the inspection body recently subjected the machine series to close scrutiny in a detailed audit.
"High efficiency in the use of energy and materials is essential to our customers. TÜV SÜD has now confirmed that we also satisfy these requirements to the highest degree with our Innofill Can DVD," says Prof. Dr.-Ing. Matthias Niemeyer, CEO of KHS GmbH. With a certificate numbered KC/494/14/164/04/15 TÜV SÜD has confirmed the exceptional sustainability of the filling machines. In the audit they achieved extremely low values for energy and material consumption. Another KHS machine series to receive an EME certificate as recently as February of this year was the KHS Innofill Glass.
When developing the Innofill Can filler series KHS attached great importance to saving resources and providing flexibility. The computer-controlled system can fill a great variety of products which range from beer through CSDs and still beverages to coffee and tea in 0.1- to 1-liter formats. Changeover times between the different products and can sizes are short, with a maximum output of 132,000 cans per hour possible.
KHS has also reduced the consumption of raw materials and energy compared to earlier models in the series. Where total oxygen pickup when filling beer into 0.5-liter cans was previously between 80 to 120 ppb and the carbon dioxide consumption at around 800 to 1,000 grams per hectoliter, with the low-pressure CAN+ purging process practiced on the Innofill Can DVD oxygen pickup can be reduced by up to 50% using the same amount of CO2. Alternatively, the amount of CO2 used drops by up to 30% when the amount of oxygen remains the same.
The special technical and hygienic design of the system enables shorter cleaning times and longer maintenance intervals, in turn minimizing costs for water, energy and cleaning agents and ultimately increasing line availability. Short maintenance times and long maintenance intervals yield considerable cost savings.
