Efficient and sustainable production of beverage packaging
Dortmund, November 10, 2015 – With its comprehensive expertise in service KHS GmbH offers support to its customers at all times. Whether conversions of existing lines, line optimization or customized product design, the manufacturer of filling and packaging systems provides tailored service solutions for the entire product portfolio. The company also ensures a reliable supply of spare parts for its durable plant engineering.
"We'd like our customers to be able to rest assured that KHS is first choice in technology and service," says Prof. Dr.-Ing. Matthias Niemeyer, CEO of KHS GmbH. At the customer's request the company from Dortmund in Germany brings existing plant equipment up to date – from control units through drives to air recycling systems for stretch blow molders. This gives clients the best possible economic flexibility when deciding whether to modernize or make a new investment.
A high degree of efficiency on canning, glass or PET lines is of the utmost importance when it comes to the economy of a filling system. KHS thus offers a multistage line optimization concept for maximum effectiveness. This service includes a thorough analysis of the line in practical operation, of the key figures and of a number of other factors to precisely pinpoint any possible weak spots. The results thereof and ensuing recommendations for line optimization are then discussed in depth. The Innosim line simulation system devised by KHS tests what effect the suggested remedies have on the line. Additional savings potential in the way energy, compressed air, CO2 and water are used is then localized.
Sustainable and attractive product design
KHS technology is distinguished by its robustness and durability. The average age of an installed system, for example, is currently about 17 years. The oldest KHS machine on record still in the maintenance program has been running reliably since 1958 and is even today in production at the C. Loos wine estate in Germany's Rhineland-Palatinate. This is proof of KHS' extensive service expertise; the company ensures a reliable supply of spare parts even for older machines. Older equipment can also be fully modernized through conversion, boosting its efficiency and allowing bottlers to meet changing demands in production.
Brand-specific beverage packaging and the efficient and sustainable production thereof is at the focus of KHS' Bottles & Shapes™ program. The product designs by the program's PET experts not only consider various aesthetic and psychological aspects, such as shape and feel, but also satisfy the demands made of a container's functionality and economy. KHS attaches special value to the line compatibility of the product; customer requirements are worked into the bottle design with the greatest attention to detail.
